The building itself was built in the early 1900s by Allen Fletcher. He lived there most of his life, including during his two terms as Vermont governor. Fletcher was a man taken with the concept of quality and permanence. Steel rods secure the building’s foundation to the underlying bedrock, and iron beams in the Castles construction ensure the building will stand strong for centuries to come. Fletcher understood how important first impressions were, so he designed a grand entrance and three reception rooms which helped make the home legendary among his notable friends. He continued this plan all the way upstairs and into his luxurious bedroom suites.

Along a gracefully curving path you’ll find a fountain, a pergola, flower beds, and even rock outcroppings to frame the scene. At the end of that path is the Castles elegantly appointed three peaked tent which holds up to 200 people – an ideal spot for your Vermont wedding, gay marriage, family or corporate gathering.

Of course, Leo and Bruce know that all the elegance in the world doesn’t matter if the service is poor. That’s why they, and their dedicated staff, strive to ensure that their hospitality is second to none.
