Brownsville, Vermont is an unincorporated village in West Windsor, Vermont. Brownsville is located on Vermont Route 44. Brownsville is named for two early settlers, John and Briant Brown. Many of the early settlers were sheep farmers. Ascutney Mountain Resort, a Vermont ski area and Holiday Inn Vacation Resort is located in Brownsville.
There are some historical covered bridges nearby, including the Brownsville Bridge – which is an historical landmark. South of Brownsville is the Little Ascutney Wildlife Management Area, a state run conservation area that offer hiking trails.
