Sheffield, Vermont is a small town in the Northeast Kingdom. The region known as Sheffield Heights is the highest elevation on I-91. Sheffield Vermont is named for Sheffield, England. Once partially owned by the infamous General Hull.
Sheffield Vermont is located just north of Wheelock in Vermont’s beautiful Northeast Kingdom. Sheffield hosts an annual Labor Day festival. The Annual Sheffield Field Day celebration always takes place on Labor Day and features a parade, live music, chicken barbecue, games and fun for all. Sheffield Field Day began in 1947. Mathewson State Forest is located in Sheffield. Activities in the park include hunting, snowmobiling, primitive camping, hiking, horseback riding and mountain biking. The town is also home to Kingdom Ricker Mountain Wind Farm which generates electricity and more than $500,000 in annual revenue for this tiny Vermont town.
