Fair Haven VT Lodging, Real Estate, Travel & Visitor Information

Fair Haven VTSouth Central Vermont community Fair HavenLocated at the junction of US Route 4 and 22A, Fair Haven is the gateway to Vermont for many visitors. Prior to the consideration of the interstate, all visitors passed directly through this picturesque village, but now most bypass it altogether. The town is home to some of the best examples of Victorian architecture in Vermont, including several impressive marble buildings. Chartered on October 27 of 1779, Matthew Lyon was the principal grantee of the town. The Irish born entrepreneur built saw and paper mills, and was also the owner of the town’s first store, inn, and newspaper. Until his arrest under Sedition Laws, he represented Vermont in Congress. Fair Haven today is home to several companies in the slate industry, including Skyline Homes – one of the largest makers of manufactured homes in the country. Local attractions include: Lake Bomoseen, Lake Champlain, and Lake St. Catherine, which are all within easy driving distance. Fair Haven includes one village, Bomoseen, and is also home to the Fair Haven Municipal Airport.
